Moose Rut Action! Giant Alaskan Wildlife at its Best!

Full-On Action! The making of a Moose Rut Pit in the Alaskan Wilderness! Documented by Michael Mauro of the Wild and Exposed Podcast team.

While filming a moose at about 75 yards with @moosemanphotos the bull quickly closed the distance to less than 20 yards. Not wanting to randomly take off running, due to cow moose in the area, they guys remained calm, as they didn’t have a ton of choices. They were standing next to a huge rock that was the size of a giant truck. They slowly and calmly made their way around the rock...at one end it was only 4 feet tall, but it was significantly higher, and safer, above the moose action.

They climbed up on the boulder and made their way to the higher end to see what the bull was doing. By this time he was digging a rut pit right below their vantage point! The bull was so close that Michael's 200-400mm Canon was too much lens! Michael set the camera down on the rock and pulled out his #iphone and recorded what was happening right below them.

A truly amazing, and super-rare moose rutting behavior to witness! Especially from this unique perspective!
